The initiative invites people to share pie recipes and personal stories that reflect Ukraine&#8217;s culinary traditions, regional flavours, and baking heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its third year, the project continues to build a new national tradition: baking an Independence Pie on 24 August, Ukraine&#8217;s Independence Day.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to unite Ukrainians around a shared symbol of the holiday\u2014one that is created through the participation of thousands of families, communities, businesses, cultural institutions, and Ukrainian communities around the world.<\/p>\n<p>As the competition&#8217;s research partner, Gradus invites Ukrainians to nominate their Independence Pie and contribute to establishing this new Independence Day tradition.<\/p>\n<p>The competition welcomes participation from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Government institutions\u2014to support the initiative at the national and regional levels by engaging educational institutions, cultural organizations, diplomatic missions, and public sector bodies.<\/li>\n<li>Local governments and communities\u2014to organize local celebrations, festivals, fairs, competitions, and community baking events and to involve schools, museums, libraries, and cultural centers.<\/li>\n<li>Businesses\u2014to become official partners of the initiative, organize themed activities for employees and customers, and help promote this emerging Ukrainian tradition.<\/li>\n<li>Ukrainian communities abroad\u2014to host community baking events, bring Ukrainians together to celebrate Independence Day, and promote Ukrainian culture internationally.<\/li>\n<li>Every Ukrainian family\u2014to become a co-creator of a new Independence Day tradition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This year&#8217;s competition features several categories, including pies created by military personnel, young people, women entrepreneurs, community collaborative pies, and family or regional recipes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications are open until 24 August 2026 via: <a href=\"https:\/\/web2.gradus.app\/survey\/pyrih\">https:\/\/web2.gradus.app\/survey\/pyrih<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To participate, applicants should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>select a competition category;<\/li>\n<li>describe their pie recipe;<\/li>\n<li>explain why they chose this particular recipe;<\/li>\n<li>upload a photo or video of the pie.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The &#8220;My Independence Pie&#8221; project was co-founded by Olena Braichenko, researcher of gastronomic culture and founder of the \u0457zhakultura project; Larysa Latypova, finance professional, founder of the Girls Gastro Club and the Gastrosenses charitable initiative; Yuliia Zhmakina, Director of the Morning Broadcasting Department at 1+1 Media; and Nataliia Yemchenko, Director of Public Relations and Communications at SCM and member of the Supervisory Board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We invite Ukrainians to nominate their own pie and help create a new tradition for celebrating Ukraine\u2019s Independence Day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":2379,"template":"","report_cat":[4],"class_list":["post-2378","report","type-report","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","report_cat-press-releases"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/gradus.app\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/report\/2378","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/gradus.app\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/report"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/gradus.app\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/report"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gradus.app\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2379"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/gradus.app\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2378"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"report_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/gradus.app\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/report_cat?post=2378"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
